Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
🏥 Overview
UTC is the Urgent Treatment Centre at the RAEI - it treats patients that require emergency care for minor conditions.
Access Route
Patients must attend A&E first before they can be streamed over to UTC.
✅ Minor Injuries - Inclusion Criteria

| Shoulder Injuries | All shoulder presentations |

| Wrist & Hand | All hand/wrist injuries |
| Hip & Thigh | Injuries to upper leg |
| Knee & Lower Limb | Leg injuries below thigh |
| Ankle & Foot | All ankle/foot presentations |
| Neck Pain | Acute neck pain |
| Acute Back Pain | New onset back pain |
| Traumatic Limb Injury | All traumatic limb injuries |
| Regional Anaesthesia | Aspects of regional anaesthesia |
| Wound Assessment | Wound evaluation |
| Burn Assessment | Burn management |
| Chest Thorax Injury | Minor chest injuries |
| Foreign Body Removal | ENT/PV/Eye/Soft Tissue |

| Fever | NEWS < 3 |
| Headache | Not Thunderclap |
| Painful Ears/ENT | ENT presentations |
| Epistaxis | Nosebleeds |
| Sore Throat | Acute throat pain |
| Cough | Acute cough |
| Breathlessness | With normal saturations |
| Rash | & Dermatology presentations |
| Needlestick Injury | Occupational exposures |
| Testicular Pain | Excluding Torsion |
| Hepatitis Risk Exposure | BBV exposures |
| Emergency Contraception | Morning after pill |
| Deep Vein Thrombosis | Suspected DVT |
| Localised Wound Infection | Abscesses |
❌ Exclusion Criteria
Inappropriate for UTC
Patients with the following should NOT be sent to UTC:

| Cardiac | Cardiac sounding chest pain |
| Mental Health | Mental health conditions |
| Neurological | Suspected stroke |
| Age-Related | Abdominal pain > 70 years old or severe pain score |
| Paediatric | Injuries < 2 years old, Severe or moderate paediatric injuries |
